Bail Bond Process

Arrest & Booking

The person is taken to jail for fingerprinting, photos, and background checks, which are often necessary steps before determining the types of bonds available or when using a bondsman to secure release.

Bond Hearing

A judge reviews the case and decides whether to set bail, release the person on recognizance, or deny bail. Depending on the decision, there are various types of bonds available, and in some cases, individuals may consider using a bondsman to facilitate the process.

Types of Bond

• Cash Bond – Pay the full amount to the court.

• Surety Bond – A bail bondsman posts bail for a fee (10–15%), representing one of the common types of bonds available.

• Property Bond – Real estate is used as collateral, another option among the types of bonds.

• ROR – Released without paying money.

Using a bondsman

Most people consider using a bondsman when bail is too high to pay in cash. Dennis Richardson Bail Bonds can post the full amount for a small percentage, and we offer various types of bonds along with financing options.

After release

The defendant must attend all court dates and follow any conditions set by the judge, especially if they are released through types of bonds or using a bondsman.

Case Completion

Cash bail is refunded (minus fees) from the court, and the surety/property bonds are released. When considering the types of bonds available, you might also explore options for using a bondsman.
